Author, speaker, researcher
Jen Marr is an author, speaker, researcher, and founder of Showing Up LLC. For more than a decade, she has studied how people respond to trauma, grief, uncertainty, and adversity, and what helps individuals and communities heal and flourish through life's most difficult seasons.
Her journey into this work began in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook tragedy, where she spent five years supporting students, educators, families, and the broader community. What started as a volunteer effort alongside comfort dogs became a deeper exploration of the role human connection plays in recovery, resilience, and hope.
Since then, Jen has developed research-based programs that equip everyday people with practical skills to support those around them. Her work has been studied in partnership with universities and mental health organizations and has been implemented in schools, healthcare systems, faith communities, law firms, nonprofit organizations, and professional sports organizations.
Jen is the author of Showing Up and Lifting Up: The Transformative Power of Supportive Leadership. She is passionate about helping people move beyond good intentions and learn how to truly care for one another in meaningful ways. Through her speaking and writing, Jen helps audiences discover that even in life's hardest moments, healing often begins through the support, encouragement, and presence of the people around us.
